Riverside provides a partnership with parents to support them in their choice to educate their children in a home learning environment.Home based education is a valid and successful alternative method of providing for the educational needs of children and adults for many families. A home learning environment provides a unique experience for each student. Successful home education requires a considerable amount of time, energy and commitment, but the rewards and many benefits attained are generally considered well worth the effort. Families choose to educate their children through Distance Education for individual reasons. Most of these reasons fall within the following categories
Students learn through a variety of means by interaction with their home tutor, Riverside teachers, face-to-face opportunities, video conferencing, telephone, email, correspondence or through an online learning environment. Graduates of Distance Education are well accepted as they are generally self-motivated and disciplined. They have demonstrated the ability to manage their time effectively, set and achieve goals, and are committed to taking responsibility for their own education. Distance Education may be undertaken for either a particular period of time to suit individual circumstances or from entry at Prep to completion at Year 12. Distance Education at Riverside is supported by experienced and qualified teachers who are committed Christians. Students and families have access to a variety of educational resources and materials, secure methods of communications, regional services and tutor training as well as a variety of co-curricula programs offered by Riverside. |
