Infants School (Prep – Year 2) is a place that is planned for the child. Its warm, caring and friendly environment is designed to encourage the child to develop according to their needs, abilities and interestsIn keeping with the needs of young children, Infants School provides an environment to prepare children to become enthusiastic learners through five areas of learning. Communicating Young children learn to communicate through understanding others and being understood, developing early literacy skills. Creating and Designing Children’s ability to express their thoughts creatively is developed through a variety of experiences in dance, drama, media, music and visual arts. Sense of Self and Others Children develop independence through the development of gross and fine-motor skills and making healthy choices. Social Learning and Living Social skills are learned by building on the child’s awareness of being a member of many social groups, including family, gender, cultural and community. Children learn to respect and cooperate with other people. Investigating and Understanding Environments Students are encouraged to investigate and understand their environment, thus developing early numeracy, thinking and investigating skills. Infant students learn best within a context that they are familiar with. Our teaching program will include experiences in the following contexts:
