Senior School prepares students for life beyond Riverside by providing enjoyable and productive educational experiences for students as they plan for their future.Riverside recognises that Year 10 is a critical transition year for all young people and it has been included into our Senior Phase of Learning. In Year 10, students make important decisions that not only affect what they do in Senior, but also what happens when they leave school and go on to further study and work. The Senior School aims to help students further understand their special interests and gifts, and develop the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfil their goals. Riverside’s Senior program includes character development, life skills, mentoring, aesthetic development and career education programs. Senior School provides students with a variety of opportunities and activities to prepare them for their journey beyond tomorrow. What is Year 10? Year 10 is a bridging program where students are given the opportunity to explore specific areas of the curriculum in greater depth, preparing them for studies in Years 11 and 12. Senior Education and Training Plans Senior students will complete a Senior Education and Training Plans, commonly known as SET Plans for Year 10 students. This plan outlines the subjects and courses the student needs to achieve their personal goals, as well as providing information on time management and study options. By identifying strengths and interests and looking at the educational, training and employment options available to them, students create individual plans that will help them achieve their goals in the future. At Riverside, this can include learning full-time through the Day School, completing modules at TAFE, involvement in a part-time employment, apprenticeship or training program, studying through Distance Education, or a combination of these options. |
