Subject Selections

Junior College follows the Australian Curriculum as a guiding framework for planning, assessing and reporting in the Key Learning Areas of:

English – The study of English is central to the learning and development of all young Australians.

Mathematics – Mathematics provides students with essential skills and knowledge, develops the numeracy capabilities needed for personal, work and civic life.

Science – Students develop an understanding of practices and processes used from science’s contribution to our culture, society and its applications in our lives.

Humanities History – Investigating both Australian and world history, students develop knowledge and understanding and skills through their study of societies and events.

Humanities – Geography – Students are encouraged to analyse and investigate places and their characteristics that are found in our world.

The Arts – Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music and Visual Arts are the five Arts subjects. At Riverside all children engage with these throughout their Junior schooling.
